Okay, for the record, let me say that I luuuv Netflix. (In a totally manly, platonic way, of course. Like how I luuuuv my Colt 1911 or my XBox.) However, this morning while checking my feed reader I found out that Netflix didn’t love me back. Imagine my how crushed I felt when I learned that Netflix was treating me like just another cheap trick. How else do you explain this?

A screen shot of Netflix's RSS flood of more than 1000 dummy entries in their New Streaming Movies feed.

See, Netflix was kind enough to offer up RSS feeds (here) for things like New Releases, Top 100, and yes “New Choices to Watch Instantly” aka new movies added to their streaming movie collection. However, now this morning they dumped more than 1,000 entries into the feed. And when I say more than 1,000, let’s just say I’ve been keeping my finger on the “page down” button a while now and that “1,000+” indicator you see on the left hasn’t budged. I could (and probably will) just tell Google Reader to mark all as read. The problem is that I have no way of knowing whether or not the last 500 in the list are legitimate movies or more dummies.

Also, WTH are these movies doing in the feed to begin with? For that matter, WTH is Netflix doing with them at all? Can you imagine someone getting paid to make these entries?

Really, Netflix get with the program and clean up your mess.

I became aware of Bruce Lee when I was in junior high, which is probably when a lot of boys realize that karate is really cool. My best friend, my cousin, and I would buy and devour martial arts magazines featuring articles on Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. I have a lot of fond memories of hanging out with my friends and watching Bruce Lee movies.

Flametoad asks the deep, philosophical questions others are afraid to ask. Such as, "Is Darth Vader stinky?"

That’s the random question of the day.

After Leia was captured at the beginning of New Hope and brought before Vader, she said “Vader. I should have recognized your foul stench as soon as I was brought on board.” (Really, Lucas? You’ve got to give props to Carrie Fisher for delivering that line with a straight face.)

My assumption was that she was just being insulting. However, in light of seeing how badly Anakin was burned in episode III, it struck me out of the blue today that maybe Vader really does have a distinctive odor. That would have been a really interesting aspect of the character. It puts a whole new spin on the Robot Chicken parody though.

“Oh, wait, you were flying around for two weeks trying to get a signal! Gosh, you must smell like feet wrapped in burnt bacon!”

I’d pretty much written them off since it became painfully obvious that they weren’t giving Obama the same treatment they had given Clinton, not to mention Bush. It took almost a year, but they finally came up with a genuinely funny skit. Could this be a sign that they’re finally ready to be funny again? Or did someone just get fired?

I’m thankful that Netflix offers a RSS feed of movies newly added to their on-demand list so I’m always aware of new releases. I’m thankful that all of these things have come together in a perfect storm of awesomeness called ThanksKilling. From their description:

While on their way home for Thanksgiving break, five college kids run afoul of a homicidal turkey that wants them dead. As the cursed bird hunts them down one by one, the survivors scramble to find a way to defeat the possessed creature. Will the bloodthirsty turkey make this their last Thanksgiving feast ever? Writer-director Jordan Downey’s holiday-themed horror spoof features an appearance by adult-film star Wanda Lust.

I was 9 years old when my parents took me to the movie theater in Gonzales (yes, the one and only theater) to see Clash of the Titans. I thought it was a pretty awesome movie at the time, but as an adult I never would have picked it for a remake. In fact, the mere thought that they would try merely underscored the whole problem with Hollywood’s lack of creativity. However, now that I’ve seen this teaser trailer, I may have to eat crow. This movie looks awesome!

It’s still possible that the plot will fall apart like wet paper and the acting be a form of remote torture, but it looks fantastic and I can hope that the plot and acting are just as good.
