The LiveJournal Garden

Posted Monday, March 3rd, 2008 at 5:55 am

Some plants only stay healthy when you prune them back every year. I’m afraid that I’ve let my LiveJournal friend’s list grow wild for too long, and now it’s time for some drastic pruning.

As previously mentioned, just over a month ago I started a new job. So far this job has kept me extremely busy, and I find that I don’t have the time to keep up with my subscriptions like I used to. I’m constantly behind on my RSS feeds (86 to date), and a week went by without my checking my LiveJournal friends page once. The problem is that most (but not quite all) of the people on my friends list fall into one of two categories– casual aquaintances or total strangers. I have more than 60 people on my LJ friends page, which amounts to about 30 posts a day. I just can’t keep up.

The only answer is to trim my friends list to something more reasonable. There are some people on my friends list who don’t even go by their real names, which means I don’t even remember who they are or why I added them in the first place. If any of you reading this want to make sure I keep reading you, please just let me know. The pruning will commence shortly.

About Flametoad

Flametoad is the personal website for Preston DuBose, a full-time e-commerce and credit card security professional for the higher-education market, a part-time RPG publisher, and a full-time husband and father.

I ignore conventional blogging wisdom and refuse to focus on a single topic. This website covers gaming, family life, marketing, security, literature, music, and just about anything else shiny that catches my eye.

Do you think I might be your long lost nephew, to whom you'd like to bequeath your vast financial empire? Find my e-mail address and read more of my bio on the About Flametoad page.

I get a small thrill every time someone bothers to respond to one of my posts. I get a big thrill when you post naked pictures of yourself. Well, not YOU.
