Just wanted to let everyone know that we at the Flametoad estate are all okay. We were fortunate to be on the “good” side of Hurricane Ike (that is, to the west) and didn’t have tornados or the like. In fact, Tadpole 2 and I sat on our back porch and watched the wind and rain for close to an hour Saturday morning. I took some videos, but I need to find the cable so that I can download them to the PC.
I think we only got about 3 inches of rain, which is 4.5 inches less than what Lubbock just got in a 24 hour period due to a cold front pushing through. We are also fortunate that our power company keeps their lines in good repair and tree branches trimmed. We never lost power, although a few neighborhoods in our city did. Unfortunately, some neighboring towns didn’t fare as well and may be without power for up to two weeks. That means our fare city with have a lot of out of town guests for the next few weeks.
My fellow Texans and 12 to Midnighters seem to be okay. I haven’t heard if Ed had any trouble, but Jerry in Houston had it a lot better than could be feared. No real damage to the house, and he only lost power for less than a day. Craig and Trey, on the bad side of Ike, had some damage to their houses but nothing unrepairable. To the best of my knowledge, nobody I know was injured.
I feel blessed in the face of so much suffering and tragedy and my prayers go out to everyone less fortunate.
Glad to hear everyone is ok.
I’m with Matt. Happy news that nothing bad happened.
James
