A few years ago a new holiday was organized and started on the ‘net. It was called "March Fo(u)rth for GM’s Day", and it was a day in which gamers could express their appreciation to those special people who put in so much extra time and creativity so that the rest of us can have fun. It is therefore only fitting that the patron saint of roleplaying games, Gary Gygax, passed from this earthly realm on a holiday that wouldn’t even exist but for him. The mere fact that the internet is awash in tributes and obituaries is a fair indicator of how the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons influenced not only roleplaying games, but by extension video games and thus the entire multi-billion dollar game industry we have today. Raise a glass and roll a twenty-sided die for a guy who, to thousands of people, is literally a hero.
