Well it’s Friday night and the kids are in bed, so I finally have a little time to post an update here. Flametoad Estate is in the path of Hurricane Ike’s inland trek. Even though we’re more than a 100 miles from the coast, the current forecast is that we’ll see category 1 hurricane strength winds in the next 12 hours. We’ll see.
Mrs. Flametoad is on call at the hospital and is spending the night there tonight so that there’s no danger of being stranded away in the morning after Ike reaches us. That means it’ll be just me and the tadpoles. I’m not terribly worried. If I was, I wouldn’t be here. I’d have already packed up the family and headed further west out of Ike’s path to my parents’ ranch. There’s always chance we’ll loose power, and if that happens for an extended period then after the storm passes we’ll make the 2 hour drive just for comfort’s sake. It’s still plenty hot here in Texas and I wouldn’t relish spending all weekend without A/C.
I’ve picked up most of the loose items from the yard and secured them in the garage or shed. As long as we don’t lose any trees, we should be fine. If I’m able and there’s anything to see, I’ll try to take some 30 second video clips with my camera and post them here. I wish I had a USB hub or a really long USB extention cable. I’d set up the webcam for your viewing pleasure.
Anyhow, that’s the report. We should be fine. If I don’t post again for a while, don’t panic. Heck, I doubt you would anyway. It isn’t like I’ve been posting very regularly the last few weeks anyway.
