Just last night I was having dinner with my two best friends when conversation shifted to the subject of the general decline of American morals, values, jobs, and society in general, coupled with global competition for resources. Of course the usual comparison to the Roman empire came up, and we wondered what would become of the world by the time our kids are adults. What would become of America? Would it crater into a series of lesser states? Would we move to somewhere as near as Mexico or as far as Austrialia to find better lives?
Today someone else forwarded a link to a 6 minute video pointing out certain difficult facts about our world today and the world in the next 15 years. This may be an old meme in terms of the blogosphere since the video appears to have been made last September, but I thought it was very timely when considered against our conversation last night. Take six minutes out of your life, and have some food for thought.
So what about the Terminator and Skynet?
Really interesting stuff. Of course the Chinese and Indian stats did not mention the number of class clowns and bullies the honors kids must endure.
Those are excellent points. There should have been a slide on the number of wedgies that happen per minute in those countries.
On a more serious note, I wonder about those population predictions. Surely China and India can’t maintain this kind of population growth indefinitely. Either their civil infrastructures will collapse, we’ll all suffer a devestating pandemic, multi-year drought will lead to widespread starvation, or mother nature will exert some other form of extreme population control.
Since they’re commies, they probably shoot the bullies or anybody with a lesser intelligence than what they’re after.
That was a bit mind-blowing.
