According to Webware: Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen, in conversation with CNET News.com Senior Writer Martin LaMonica, dropped a bombshell this morning: Adobe will release a Web-based version of Photoshop within six months. See the News.com story, Adobe to take Photoshop online, for details.
Before you get too excited, the article goes on to explain that this will almost certainly be a dumbed down version of Photoshop, more akin to the consumer-grade version Photoshop Elements. Even with broadband, I don’t see editing a 100MB book cover using an online application. Five years from now…maybe. But I just don’t think we’re there yet. Anyway, for those of you who just want a program for cropping photos from you digital camera, this might be the best solution. Even with drives measured in hundreds of gigabytes, I’m all for applications that don’t take up space on my hard drive.
Interesting none the less. Another step in the journey called technology.
