Those of you who read Flametoad via the RSS or LJ feeds can ignore this post. For the rest of you, I’d like to apologize for the mess. On a whim, I decided to update my template to allow the use of WordPress widgets. An unfortunate side effect is that the menu styles are different than the ones used in the old style sheet. I could spend another hour or two digging around in the CSS to dress them up again, but I’m not. Instead, sometime in the next month I’ll be switching to a new theme.
A Flametoad update has been on my mind for a while, and it goes hand in hand with other changes I’ve been making behind the scenes. Over the last few months I’ve been adding site plugins, like Feedburner feeds and Google analytics, for enhanced functionality. I’d like this site to be an actual destination. I know part of that comes from actually writing content instead of recycling links to elsewhere, and I do plan on contributing more to the blogosphere. However, I’ve also been feeling like the old Desert Theme template is starting to show its age. I have plans for commissioning an actual Flametoad logo, which will be the icon of a new site design.
When will all this be happening? I’m not sure. I’ll have to commission the artwork, get it back, and incorporate it into a new theme. This between all my other RPG publishing work. However, it is pretty clear that doing anything else to my current site design would be a waste of time. I hope you’ll pardon the mess. I don’t think it’s hideous or anything, but if it bothers you that deeply then you might consider subscribing to the RSS feed.
Looking forward to seeing what you will come up with.
