A little more than a month ago, I mentioned that I was going to Origins. Less than a week from now, I’ll be climbing on a plane and traveling for nearly 6 hours to Columbus, Ohio for my very first national con. Am I excited? Heck yeah!
I’ve already posted 12 to Midnight’s official Origins itinerary, so there’s no need to belabor that point. I hope I’ll get the opportunity to meet some of you for the first time in person. Look for the guys in the 12 to Midnight t-shirts. If you have any interest in meeting at some point during the con, leave a comment and we’ll figure out a time and place. I’m hopeful that once we’re on site that we can arrange a 12 to Midnight meet-up for dinner or drinks. At the very least, you’ll know where to find me at least part of the time by the schedule of games and panel discussion I’m running.
So what have I (and the other 12 to Midnighters) been doing to prepare? Well, we’re going to have a big stack of Pinebox toe-tags for anyone who plays one of our games. I made a handout for my panel discussion on horror gaming, and I also designed a new character sheet just for the East Texas University (ETU) game. I’m particularly proud of this last one. Everyone who has seen it thus far has loved it, and I think you will too. We’re creating a special Origins edition (read: abridged) of our ETU character creation rules and allowing players a sneak peak at creating characters as freshmen students at ETU. You’ll create your characters, then run through an introductory adventure. If you survive, you can even carry those characters over to 12 Hours to Midnight and Chickens in the Mist.
In addition to the scheduled games, Ed, Jerry, and myself and expecting to run pickup games throughout the con. If you don’t think you can make a scheduled game, just let one of us know you’re interested in a pickup and leave your cell phone number.
