It’s Not Just a Lamp, It’s ART

Photo of desk lamp in the form of a flying saucer with a plastic cone This lamp has to win the “coolest thing I’ve seen today” award. Apparently it’s just in concept stage, but if you want one yourself please visit the designer’s site and let him know you’re interested.

In other news, the Telegraph reports that China Threatens Dollar Sales. In short, China has vast holdings of US treasuries, which it is threatening to sell off for the express purpose of creating an economic crash should Congress not tow the line. This is important stuff, and definitely worth knowing and understanding.

Next, there’s an interesting editorial in Asia Times describing the explosion of Christianity in China. If the figures are even a quarter accurate, the author rightly speculates that this will have major implications. Just as Islam marches on Western civilization, the perfect storm of Chinese population explosion and conversion to Christianity could make it the not only a safe harbor for Christianity in another generation, but a source of missionaries. To quote:

As [Time correspondent David] Aikman explains in Jesus in Beijing, some Chinese evangelicals and Pentecostals believe that the basic movement of the gospel for the last 2,000 years has been westward: from Jerusalem to Antioch, from Antioch to Europe, from Europe to America, and from America to China. Now, they believe, it’s their turn to complete the loop by carrying the gospel to Muslim lands, eventually arriving in Jerusalem. Once that happens, they believe, the gospel will have been preached to the entire world.

Wow.

And finally, some video fun . According to the description on the site, some guys use some home made explosives to launch a tire into the air. Really, REALLY high into the air.

And they’re figuring a conversion rate of 10,000 people a day over there. That’s incredible all the way around.

I want that lamp.

The lamp is awesome. I have no idea where I’d put it, but it’s awesome.

I’m skeptical of that figure, but any growth at all is encouraging. Even 5% of that would be pretty great. I guess you have to look at it as geometric growth. New converts turn around and convert others, who convert others, who…

Christian China might be the only thing to save hedonistic America. Kinda ironic considering the Communists currently in charge. Can only hope.

Dang! That tire was a flying. And that was some energy after it came back down to earth. Whoa!
