Captain’s Log, Stardate blah blah blah

Posted Friday, April 13th, 2007 at 10:14 am

It seems like I’ve been pulled in a lot of different directions lately, and I thought that those of you who read this for the juicy behind the scenes info on 12 to Midnight probably deserved a new morsal. So what’s been going on?

You might have noticed that last week we released a new title: The Beast Within. This is a 1st level d20 System adventure that makes a great introduction to the weirdness around Pinebox. We haven’t made a big PR push with it because shortly after releasing it I realized that it was missing the page listing XP. Mark came to the rescue and helped pull that together, but I haven’t wanted to make a big splash with the release until the files have been updated at the retail outlets. That will happen this weekend. Of course, needless to say everyone who already bought it will get the update for free.

It’s also no secret that we’ve been working on our own online store. The software is installed, most of our catalog is in place…but I keep running into an error with Google Checkout. It’s very frustrating. I’ve been having to split my time between troubleshooting the problem and working on The Beast Within. Now that TBW is (mostly) behind me, I can focus more of my effort on the shop. It needs to work flawlessly before we open it up to the public. I know I’ve been saying this for the last three months, but I hope to have it finished and open to the public by the end of the month.

I also need to write up a contract for a new business opportunity. I can’t make this public until the ink is dry, but it’ll be a good thing for Fabled Environments’ Modern Floorplans line. If I can only find time to get the contract written.

I’ve also got other things cookin’ that have nothing to do with 12 to Midnight, but presumably you don’t much care about that. Feel free to skip this paragraph. I’m treasurer of my local chapter of a professional organization- the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). We’re having our annual banquet next week, so there’s a lot of money coming in and going out right now. Tadpole-2′s birthday is next week, so we’re having a party next weekend. Several weeks ago we bought a swingset for the tadpoles, and right now it’s still a stack of lumber on the back porch. Plus there’s all the usual household chores like mowing the yard and whatnot. Is there any chance we can add a few more hours to the day? On the plus side, I think I’ve figured out how to convert some AVIs on my computer at home to a format that Tivo Desktop can read and transfer to my Tivo. If so, I’ll be awash in TV episodes I’ve missed. Woohoo! I started the conversions before I left for work this morning, so I’ll know if it worked when I get home this evening.

About Flametoad

Flametoad is the personal website for Preston DuBose, a full-time e-commerce and credit card security professional for the higher-education market, a part-time RPG publisher, and a full-time husband and father.

I ignore conventional blogging wisdom and refuse to focus on a single topic. This website covers gaming, family life, marketing, security, literature, music, and just about anything else shiny that catches my eye.

Do you think I might be your long lost nephew, to whom you'd like to bequeath your vast financial empire? Find my e-mail address and read more of my bio on the About Flametoad page.

I get a small thrill every time someone bothers to respond to one of my posts. I get a big thrill when you post naked pictures of yourself. Well, not YOU.
