RIP Peter Boyle

Well dammit. I just learned from GMS’s blog that Peter Boyle passed away. Some of you Philistines may know him as the father in Everybody Loves Raymond, but to me he’ll always be The Monster in Mel Brookes’ best film, Young Frankenstein. (Although a close second would be his guest role as Clyde Bruckman in two episodes of the X-Files.) Young Frankenstein is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I greatly respect Mr. Boyle’s contribution to making that film what it is.

Mr. Boyle’s film career began in 1966 and spans all the way through present day with a film still in post production. His IMDB filmography runs 93 listings long, and that’s counting multiple episodes of the same TV series as a single listing.

May you rest in peace, Mr. Boyle.

The guy was pure genius on EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, by far the funniest character on there. The neat thing about the show is that everybody can relate to the family portrayed in that show. It hit WAY too close to home on occasion. Peter Boyle was just incredible on that show, and you couldn’t help but like him.

He’ll be missed in the acting world. Did you know that John Lennon was the best man at his wedding??

I loved that flick. Mr. Boyle was super.

More bad news from the world of people that made us laugh. Joseph Barbarra has passed away too of Hannah Barbarra Cartoons.
