Good Weather Day

08.30.06 | 1 Comment

Today is one of those all-too-rare days in Texas in which it is actually rather pleasant to be outside. A front pushed through yesterday and brought with it much drier air. One can actually step outside without feeling like you’ve walked into a wet blanket. On days like these it’s mighty tempting not to take a “good weather day” from work and do something outside. On the way back from lunch I fantasized about picking Tadpole-1 up from daycare and taking him out to a local nature preserve for a short hike. I can think of a million reasons why I should, and only a few (such as, I have work to do) to stay at work. Alas, here I am.

It’s been a weird, weary few nights so far this week. The dogs were sick and wanted out twice during the night, Tadpole-2 woke up much earlier than usual, and Tadpole-1 had a nighmare that left me sharing a single bed with him for part of the night. Last night Tadpole-1 woke us up before midnight, went back to sleep on her own, woke me up for real at 1:30 am, then woke up again briefly at 4:30 am. Until Monday night, she’d been sleeping through until 4:30-ish for the last several weeks. Last night was “my night”, so during the 1:30 feeding I watched the first episode of the second disk of Battlestar Galactica season 2. (That’s the 5th episode of the season, if you weren’t keeping count.) While I thought the first season was good, so far this season has been even better.

I’m working on a seekret projekt for another publisher. No writing–just layout. It has a tight deadline so it looks like I’ll have to miss a few weeks of gaming. I’m not very happy about that, but it was my choice to take on the job so I can’t bitch too much I suppose. At the same time, I’m trying to keep our own 12 to Midnight projects moving forward. I’m also supposed to be working on a website redesign for a local church. When it rains, it pours, don’t it?

In other news, this probably comes no more as a surprise to Cerebral Misfire than it does to me. I have State Farm insurance and I’d be tempted to switch if I had any faith whatsoever that I’d be switching to anyone better.
