A Deal and a Laugh

03.27.06 | 1 Comment

In lieu of actual content, I share with you the following:

First, when you have some time to kill and you want a laugh, visit bash.org. Click on the “top 100” at the top of the page. These are snippets of IM conversations that people submit because they are funny in one way or another. For example:

t0rbad> so there i was in this hallway right
BlackAdder> i believe i speak for all of us when i say...
BlackAdder> WRONG BTICH
BlackAdder> IM SICK OF YOU
BlackAdder> AND YOUR LAME STORIES
BlackAdder> NOBODY HERE THINKS YOURE FUNNY
BlackAdder> NOBODY HERE WANTS TO HEAR YOUR STORIES
BlackAdder> IN FACT
BlackAdder> IF YOU DIED RIGHT NOW
BlackAdder> I DON"T THINK NOBODY WOULD CARE
BlackAdder> SO WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THAT FAG
*** t0rbad sets mode: +b BlackAdder*!*@*.*
*** BlackAdder has been kicked my t0rbad ( )
t0rbad> so there i was in this hallway right
CRCError> right
heartless> Right.
r3v> right

The next bit of news is a deal on a USB drive, found via TechBargains. Get a 1 GB USB smart drive with free shipping for $22 after rebate. (Speaking as someone who only yesterday was shopping for a new memory stick to as an upgrade from my 128 MB stick, that is a good price. I just bought a 256 MB stick for about that price. Fortunately, I haven’t opened the package yet since I’d already made up my mind to return it for a 512 MB stick they were selling for $36.) The deal above led me to read about U3. It’s vaguely interesting, but not what I need. Until I can buy a 40 GB stick with enough room for Photoshop, InDesign, and the programs I really use, this is just a gimmick. I recognize that your results my vary. If you really do use Skype, Firefox, and so on alot, this may be just the thing for you. I just see that 1 GB as getting eaten up with applications pretty quickly–especially a browser. You’d have to be mighty careful about accepting cookies. Still, however you slice it, $22 (okay, $42 before the rebate) for a 1GB stick is a good price and I placed an order. I probably won’t bother with the U3 applications, but cheap storage is cheap storage.

1 GB on a stick is very attractive. Have to check this Techbargains place out.
