In the News

Had a great time at Swampfest this weekend, but came back with a small cold. Nothing too serious. I’ll be posting more extensively about the weekend once I get some photos/videos/ to go along with it.

In the news today…

Happy Thanksgiving, GM employees. :(

And, the new national generosity index has been released. I wasn’t originally planning on commenting on it, other than to point out the obvious that the bible belt seems to be more generous than the coasts. If you want to take it a step further then you might extrapolate that those areas with high democrat populations seem to rely more on government spending while those who vote more republican seem to shoulder more personal responsibility for giving. However, that might be interpreting the data a bit too loosely. Read about their methodology and decide for yourself. Of course, I’m not the first person to make that connection. That link led to another interesting site, which debunked the insulting hoax that came out around the last presidential election about “red states” having lower IQs than “blue states”. Of course, I voted libertarian (and almost certainly will in the future) so all this red vs. blue stuff isn’t terribly personal to me.

That being said, I care a lot about pork spending, so I support the Fiscal Watch Team Offset Package. Take a few moments to visit your Senator’s website and let him or her know that you expect fiscal responsibility.

Well said. Representative and Senators at state and federal levels need to be kept accountable. They should fear us and not vice versa. By fear not in deathly way, but political. Vote the rascals out if they do not represent us.
