A New Tradition

feathery stuffMrs. Flametoad had to work again this weekend, so the tadpole and I went back out to Lick Creek Park. (See last week’s post for link. I’m lazy today.) This time we tried a different trail–one suitable for pedestrian or equestrian traffic. Meh. It wasn’t as enjoyable as the other one. As you can see, I brought my camera this trip, but the theme this morning seemed to be “battery low”. I ran out of battery after half a dozen shots. Then Ben and I both ran out of energy about halfway through the hike. After a while we were both just plodding along. Of course, this our pancake breakfast (high in carbs for quick energy but low in protein for lasting power) may have played a role in that. I ended up carrying Ben the last two tenths of the trip.

However, that’s not to say that it wasn’t still enjoyable in its own way. We got there around 8:30 am and the sun was still relatively low on the horizon. It lit up a whispy, purplish plant like it was a ground-hugging fog. Quite pretty. I’m attaching a couple of pictures here. I also went back and added a picture to an earlier post, so scroll on down.

It looks like snow or fog, but it's actually a whispy plantAlso, as a little self-plug, for those of you who are LiveJournalers, Flametoad is available as an RSS feed. Just add it to your Friends list and always stay up to date on the antics of your favorite combustible amphibian. Of course, I’d prefer it if you visited the actual site, but I’ll take what I can get. Have a great remainder of your weekend.
